Rob Ehrens to become new teamchef for Japan

Former Dutch chef d'Equipe, Rob Ehrens will become the new Japanese teamchef starting January 1, 2023. "I think this is a nice challenge." states Ehrens.

One year after Ehrens was replaced by Jos Lansink by the Dutch federation, he is ready to do what he is best in: coaching. The aim is to qualify the Japanese showjumping team for the Olympic Games in Paris.

"You cannot compare the Netherlands to Japan, but that is also what makes this task a challenge. There is a lot of potential in  Japan. It will be a difficult job, but I aim to complete the mission," Ehrens states.

Luckily Ehrens won't have to leave the Netherlands a lot. "Most riders from Japan are already based in the Netherlands, Belgium or Germany. Of course I will have to travel for some competitions to Asia, but it will all be manageable with my own company."
