Traditionally the young showjumping horses conclude the first day at the CHIO Aachen. In the Sparkasse Youngsters Cup, it was Germany's Tobias Meyer and his Comme Il Faut-mare, Celebrity H (mv. No Limit) speeding to victory.
The German pair set a clear round in 60.37 seconds, almost 2 seconds faster as compatriot Patrick Stühkmeyer aboard his Chacco-Blue sire, Chad Blue PS. Switzerland's Steve Guerdat was one of the last to start and eventually placed third with the 8-year-old Easy Star de Talma (Quick Star x Opium de Talma).
Guerdat was followed by Germany's Daniel Deusser who advanced on Christian Kukuk. Deusser jumped to the fourth sport aboard Loui LN (Kannan x Cartani) while Christian Kukuk completed the top five with Chelsea 179 (Cador 5 x Laudabilis).
