A new star in the sky with Anky Van Grunsven's Salinero

Anky Van Grunsven's 28-year-old Grand Prix horse Salinero (Salieri) is no more. This sad news was was just announced on the Dutch rider's Instagram page. "My heart is broken," it sounds ...

The big dark bay gelding enjoyed many wonderful successes under the saddle of van Grunsven. The pair became Olympic champions in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, and danced to gold at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen. Since 2013, the Grand Prix star was allowed to enjoy his well-deserved retirement in the pasture of his former rider.

Now, after nine years of well-deserved rest, the handsome champion has suddenly passed away. "My hard is broken. Salinero, my hero, has left us in tears behind. Memories will never fade away ♥️♥️♥️," van Grunsven wrote on her official instagram page.

On behalf of the Equnews editors, we wish everyone who was close to Salinero enormous strength.
