The evening program of this last week at Knokke Hippique always has a breathtaking 5* class planned. After finishing at a height of 1.50m on Thursday and Friday, another 5cm was added tonight. The 1.55m high course turned out to be perfect for Harry Charles. With Stardust (Chacco-Blue) he jumped two clear rounds and set a crushing time of 40.53 seconds in the jump-off, good for a well-deserved victory.
Martin Fuchs jumped 24 hundredths slower and grabbed silver with The Sinner (Sanvaro). Harrie Smolders and Une de l'Othain (Conterno Grande, Old) finished just short of 41 seconds and took the bronze medal home.
Just outside the podium, Willem Greve placed in fourth with Highway M TN (Eldorado Vd Zeshoek), who were the last combination to start, ahead of Petronella Andersson who jumped to fifth place with the 12-year-old Cassina Z (Casado V'T Gelutt) for the Stephex home front.
