Gregory Wathelet: "It's not just people with money who can make it in the equestrian world"

Gregory Wathelet is this time the central guest in the 'Why do you ride' episode of Horse Pilot. The Olympic medallist explains that he does not come from a so-called 'horse family': "I think the assumption that you have to be rich to make it at the highest level is still too strong," he says.

"I don't agree with this at all. I don't come from a horse family at all, my parents were farmers so I was actually prepared for that from an early age. Yet I succeeded. I have always worked very hard and will continue to do so in the future. I always go the extra mile, whether it is a championship, Grand Prix or regular race. I hope I can be an example for young people who want to make it in the equestrian world but perhaps don't have all the means," he says.
