Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann sees her top horse Goja leave for Spain

Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann had to say goodbye to her former top horse Goja (Wandor van de Mispelaere x Palestro van de Begijnakker). The 14-year old Spanish rider Carlos Borho Giron is taking over the reins of the 16-year-old gelding.

Goja and Meyer-Zimmerman were a succesfull combination since 2013. The pair had lots of successes together. They were part of the German A-squad for many years. In 2016 the two were part of the winning team for Germany in the Longines FEI Nations Cup Final in Barcelona. Besides that, they also won the CSIO5* Nations Cup at beautiful venues like Hickstead and Sopot.

On her social media, Meyer-Zimmerman wrote a goodbye letter to Goja:

"Thank you so much Goja! Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my long time friend and success horse Goja. This was a difficult day for all of us and there were many tears! Goja is an exceptional horse!

His way of jumping is anything but classic but he is a horse that loves to jump that I could always count on and flew with me over the highest courses in the world as if they were little cavaletti's.

We have traveled the world together as friends - together we have been in the 5* Grand Prix of Aachen, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Doha, St. Gallen, Vienna, Brussels, Barcelona, Villach, Mannheim,... among others.

We won the Nations Cup Final for Germany and were double clear and victorious in many Nations Cups, for example in Hickstead, Falsterbo and Sopot.

Together we won the Riders Tourand were able to compete for many nice prizes or compete, for example in Wiesbaden, Neumünster, Hagen, Paderborn, Oliva, Luhmühlen,...

The quick jump-offs were very fun for both of us!

But also, the last 9 years - the daily training with Goja's seemingly endless urge to move and his very special personality, which captivated our whole team!

I and all of us at Hof Waterkant miss you already!

At this time I would also like to thank Goja's owner, our friend and partner Jürgen Fitschen, for trusting and providing this extraordinary horse for so many years!

The decision to send our long-time four-legged partner out of the barn was very difficult, but we are sure Goja will have a wonderful life as a future teacher with our friends the Borho-family and with Carlos Borho Junior, a very talented young rider.

Goja likes to be in the heat, loves big spaces and loves walking through the water at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour - Oliva Nova / Spain beach.

I will visit him often and keep my fingers crossed for the new pair and stand by!"
