Just now the sad news reached us, that the legendary stallion Diamant de Semilly has passed away. Ecurie Eric Levallois and Haras de Beaufour just announced this on social media.
Diamant lived to be just under 31 years old. In 2002, with Eric Levallois, he accounted for the gold team win at the World Equestrian Games in Jerz de la Frontera. That same year he also took the championship title in France. He was also enormously successful in breeding.
With more than 5000 offsprings, of which more than 400 performing at the highest 1.50m and 1.60m level, Diamant was a true icon in the showjumping sport. Some of the most successful offsprings of Diamant are Emerald, Diarado, Diamant de Revel, Diamanthina van 't Ruytershof and Hocus Pocus who proved to be on top of their game in their sport.
"It is with a heavy heart that we announce that our legend, our dearest Diamant, the emblem of the Haras, left us yesterday morning. He passed away peacefully, leaving behind a great emptiness. Our team is devastated... Diamant enjoyed life until the end and had a beautiful and well deserved retirement and was surrounded by a loving and caring team. I lost my horse, but most of all my best friend..." EL.
