The first outdoor of the season is over, the prizes in Doha have been handed out. In the final Grand Prix, Marcus Ehning was victorious and kept Simon Delestre from a second win of the day.
The first outdoor Grand Prix is over! After two clear rounds on Delux van T&L (by Toulon), Niels Bruynseels was one of seven to finish in the jump-off. Ahead of them came Mike Kawai, who stayed clear with Saxo de La Cour (by Tlaloc M). The time to beat was set by them on 44.98.
After Bruynseels, we saw Christian Kukuk at the start with Nice van 't Zorgvliet (by Emerald). They did not keep it clear and also Max Kühner with EIC Cooley Jump the Q (by Pacino) went into the fault.
The last two clear rounds were ridden at the last minute. Simon Delestre rode almost three seconds off Kawai's time and put himself ahead of the Japanese with Dexter Fontenis Z (by Diarado). But one person managed to do even better: Marcus Ehning rode a round out of the books on Stargold (by Stakkato Gold) and set the winning time at 41.74.
Thus, there was no second 5* win for Simon Delestre today but a victory for Marcus Ehning. Mike Kawai came third.
