Today is Father's Day and one of the most famous fathers is probably Ludo Philippaerts. Not only is he the 'pater familias' of the Philippaerts family, he is also trainer of his four sons and after a six-year break from competition, he has returned to the saddle. He is now even regularly to be found in the competition arena. "That's great of course," says son Nicola. "He can do what he likes to do although there seems to be one problem sometimes," he laughs.
Thibault Philippaerts jokingly commented: "Dad hates time faults. He always says that if one of us has a time fault, we have to put ten euros in a jar. My brothers and I usually manage to finish within the time limit, but the biggest problem seems to be with Dad himself. So maybe it's time to raise the stakes to 20 euros".
Olivier continues: "It's true that the time allowed for Dad sometimes causes a bit of a problem. But give him a few more weeks, and he'll be fine.
Ludo himself tells how it is to train four sons: "Of course I am very happy that all my sons got into the equestrian sport, but it is not always easy; for example, when a new horse comes in, I have to decide who gets the horse under the saddle. I want to give all my sons the chance to compete at the highest level, so that choice is not always easy," he concludes.
Happy Father's Day to all the dads!
