The oldest Olympic participant is.... A rider!

With only a few weeks to go before the Games, it is now clear which athletes will be competing for which countries. So now we also know who the oldest and youngest participants are. And the oldest Olympian? That's a rider!

The Norwegian Geir Gulliksen is the oldest participant. He will compete in the jumping discipline with his horse VDL Groep Quatro. Philipp Dutton will compete in the eventing discipline at the age of 57. He competes for the USA. He has competed at the Olympic Games seven times. In Rio he was extremely successful, taking home the bronze medal in the eventing discipline. This made him the oldest American medallist since the 1952 Helsinki Games.
