Philippaerts family sells their GP horse Laurier

The 11-year-old BWP gelding Laurier (by Zirocco Blue VDL), who was recently seen with Ludo and Nicola Philippaerts in the saddle, has been sold to new owners. They announced this themselves today on their social media channels. Who will take over the reins of this gelding is not yet known.

With the legendary Ludo Philippaerts in the saddle, the BWP gelding Laurier rode to several top five and top ten placings at the end of last year. At the Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera Ludo and Laurier finished fourth in the 1.40m class, were eighth in the 1.45m class and finished fourth in the 1.50m Grand Prix.

With son the younger son Thibault Philippaerts in the saddle the gelding jumped great rounds during the Belgian Youth Championship at Azelhof in Lier in 2020.

Nicola Philippaerts went to Wellington in the USA with the talented gelding to ride at the Winter Equestrian Festival. There, someone spotted the eleven year old gelding's talent and Laurier was immediately sold.

"The amazing Laurier takes another step in his career! Nicola Philippaerts took him to Wellington, where he showed his talents and got sold. Good luck to the new owner, we're looking forward to hearing from him soon", said team Philippaerts.
