The first official competition day at the Flanders Horse Event in Beervelde, Belgium, was dominated by the home crowd in the CSI2* classes. After Geoffry Cobbaut took the first win it was up to Julie De Pelsmaeker and Joris Vergauwen to claim their victory. The international CSI2*-class saw Joris Vergauwen on top of the class. Aboard the 9-year-old Hardi (by Wandor van de Mispelaere), Vergauwen topped the 1.40m class. A total of 43 combinations took the start. Vergauwen stopped the clock in 60.58 seconds. Ireland's Roger McCrea and Sweet Cinnamon (by Laptop x Irco Mena) followed in a second place after a clear finish in 60.64 seconds. Anthony Wellens placed third aboard Fausto van 't Verahof (by Toulon). The top five in this class was completed by earlier winner, Geoffry Cobbaut together with Id 1 and Marjan De Wachter with Uringa Z in fourth and fifth. Before it was Julie De Pelsmaeker who speeded to victory in the 1.30m class. Together with Artico 2 (by Artani) De Pelsmaeker crossed the finish in 27.02 seconds. The pair was followed by man-in-form, Geoffry Cobbaut and the 14-year-old Vanoverbeek (by Couleur). Compatriot Virginie Thonon followed in a third place with Calinka dus Bois des Isnes (by Radco 't Houdveld).
