Ben Maher takes a strong start in Vilamoura

The Vilamoura Champions Tour in Portugal has kicked-off with the young horses. With the 7-year-old horses the course was set at a height of 1.35m, offering a two phase course. Ben Maher and the KWPN-horse Explosion W (Chacco Blue x Baloubet du Rouet) topped the class after a clear finish in 33.87 seconds. Almost one second behind, Duarte Seabra and Ahg Whiterock Cruise Down (Cruisings Micky Finn x Touchdown) followed as runner-up. Dutch 22-year-old rider, Jelmer Hoekstra placed third with yet another KWPN-horse, Enjoy (Viceroy T. x Mendel). The top five was completed by Luis Sabino Gonçalves with Twix V Overis Z (by. Toulon) and Carly Anthony (Jule van den Tinnenpot). With the 6-year-old horses both Duarte Seabra and Jelmer Hoekstra finished on top again. Jelmer Hoekstra speeded to victory aboard For President (Numero Uno x Nimmerdor). Portugal's Duarte Seabra placed yet again second. This time with Nintender Star (Nitender x Star Kingdom). Lisa Cubitt and Oaks Cajun Jitterbug (by Asb Conquistado) followed in a third place. The top five was completed by Gilbert Böckmann (Label d'Amour) and Jelmer Hoekstra (Fast Forward).
