In today's it were the 60 best individual riders and all the rider competing for their nation that joined the action for the second showjumping class at Olympic Equestrian Centre in Rio. At the end of the day it was home nation Brazil that got the most cheers from the crowd as they joined the Dutch, Germany and USA in the top ranking with zero penalty points. Individual it were eleven combinations who managed to jump around the course clear for a second time. When first rider Luciana Diniz and the amazing Fit for Fun breezed through the course it looked like the day was going to get many clear rounds. However soon it turned out that this was not the case as Diniz was the only individual combination, not riding in a nations team, that managed to do so. After the nine team less riders had ridden it was time for the team riders to come in action. With counter jumping back to zero every nation was presenting four riders again, including those that got disqualified in the first showjumping round. With only eight nations going on to the final round tomorrow it was of importance to jump those clears. Especially when the USA managed to stay on three clear rounds out of three after Mclain Ward followed his teammates Kent Farrington and Lucy Davis with another superb round. Last rider Beezie Madden and Cortes C did jump for their individual ranking, but returned with a disappointing eight penalty points. Meaning America's leading lady will miss the final as she did not qualify under the 45 best to go on in the race. Quickly after it was the reigning World and European champions team Orange that followed with clears from Jeroen Dubbeldam, Maikel van der Vleuten and Harrie Smolders. Last starter Jur Vrieling and Zirroco Blue have not found back the right feeling as the normally impressive jumping gray stallion refused to jump the triple, just like in this weekend's opening competition. As expected the strong jumping German team from Sunday also produced three clear rounds with Christian Ahlmann, Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum and Daniel Deusser. Just like this weekend Ludger Beerbaum is probably not a pleased man as his Casello hit down a pole again. Brazil is also one to be watched. As a home nation is right on top together with the USA, Germany and the Netherlands. Eduardo Menezes and Quintol led the way when they jumped the first clear in front of the home crowd. And the stadion really exploded when last rider Veniss Pedro crossed the finish following his team mate Alvaro Doda de Miranda who also finished on zero penalties. France started unlucky when Philippe Rozier and Rahotep de Toscane finished with four penalties. But made an amazing recovery and finished on a total of one penalty. Kevin Staut cruized around the course clear dnd Pénélope Leprevost, who had an unlucky fall from Flora de Mariposa last sunday, jumped a beautifull clear round today. Roger Yves Bost had to fight himself over the course with Sydney Une Prince. The pair stayed away from the wood and finished on one penalty for time. Defending champion Steve Guerdat had a bad day with two poles down and his team dropping to seventh place together with Sweden, both nations have eight penalties in total. Canada lays in sixt place with four penalties ahead of the two.
