Brits victorious in first Nations Cup of the year

Last weekend students out of 14 different countries gathered in Leuven, Belgium to compete in the first AIEC Student Riders Nations Cup of the year. After competing in both dressage and showjumping it was Great-Britain who claimed the overall victory.  Steph Gun, Sophie Wragg and Georgie Wood claimed the gold medal in the show jumping category. The trio placed sixth in dressage, bringing an overall victory and the necessary points fort he President's Cup Ranking. The Irish and Austrian team followed the Brits in a second and third spot. Individually it was Alfonso de Los Santos who took home the first prize. Riding for Spain he also placed 4th with his team. British Steph Gun finished second while Polish Marta Palucka placed third. The top five of the individual stage was completed by Jocelin Lillienau and Tori Dixon.  Host country Belgium was represented by 3 new riders. They didn't succeed in ending within the top six of this Nations Cup. Further the event was marked by the change of board of AIEC. President Bram Van Hulle, stepped down after a five years period. The new board exists out of Jocelin Lillienau (President), Beatrice Gates (Secretary), Gary Flynn (Director of Competitions), Rosan Regtien (Financial), Lena Von Spiess, Ines Müller-zuller and Jaroslaw Koziarowski.
