Cian O’Connor will yet again be re-united with his bronze medal partner from the Olympics in London – Blue Loyd. Cian will ride the 13 year old gelding at Dublin Horse Show next week, and tells WoSJ that he will compete Blue Loyd in the international classes – as well as Cooper and Unique. Cian is one of the five riders on Robert Splaine’s list for the Nations Cup team, and both Blue Loyd and Cooper are possible horses for Cian to ride should he be selected.
“For an Irish lad jumping on the team in Dublin is always a highlight, and should I be selected this year it would be my tenth appearance on the Dublin-team in the past 12 years. I also look forward to the Grand Prix on Sunday with either of the two horses,” Cian says to WoSJ.
This is the second time this year that the two partner up after Blue Loyd was sold last year. Cian also rode Blue Loyd in St. Gallen – where the pair was clear in the Nations Cup for Ireland. Blue Loyd is usually ridden by Cian's student Nicole Walker.
