While all eyes are on the World Cup of Mechelen this week, a lot of British riders are competing in Liverpool, where a CSI4* show is being organized. The first 4-star class of the day was a 2m40 class, ridden in who phases. James Smith rode a super fast round with Simply Splendid and finished ini 26,74 seconds. With this time he could beat one of the fastest riders in the world: Italy's Emanuele Gaudiano. Gaudiano rode the 8-year old gelding Kingston van het Eikenhof (f. Epleaser van't Heike) and finished in 26,76 seconds, leaving the wood untouched. The third place on the podium went to another British rider: Paul Barker. Barker jumped a clear second phase with the 11-year old Kannan gelding Happy Boy. They cleared the course in 26,83 seconds. Louise Saywell (Tyson Z) and Conor Swail (Flower) completed the top five.
