[caption id="attachment_71360" align="aligncenter" width="150"] Bertram Allen and Wild Thing L[/caption] Irish eyes were smiling today in Bordeaux when Bertram Allen and Denis Lynch won a class each on the opening day of this prestigious 5* event. 19 year old Bertram, who is currently ranked no.14 on the Longines World Rankings, won the 1.40m warm up class with the 12 year old mare Wild Thing L (Montreux x Lux). The pair finished above Constant van Paesschen (BEL) and Diamanthina van't Ruytershof (Diamant de Semilly x Carthago), who had to settle for second place after finishing 3 seconds slower than Allen. Bertram's former trainer Billy Twomey (IRL) completed the podium with Royale de Rouet (Jeff d'or x Kannan). Full Results It was Denis Lynch's turn to keep the Irish on top in the next class, a 1.50m track. Riding Abbervail van het Dingeshof ( Jus de Pomme x Non Stop) Lynch topped the table ahead of 38 other riders. German rider Daniel Deusser finished second on the small but fast Espyrante while home rider Kevin Staut completed the podium with the fan favourite mare Silvana HDC.
