After winning the speed class on the inaugural day of the LA Masters, Patrice Delaveau won the 1.50m FOX Sports Trophy today aboard the stallion Carinjo HDC. Patrice had the fastest clear round in the 11 rider jump-off with a time of 31.89 seconds, which was enough to earn him the win and $11050 in prize money. Irish rider Darragh Kenny, who is on a crest of a wave at the moment, finished in second place aboard the 8 year old stallion Chin Quidam VDL. Swiss rider Janika Sprunger finished in third place with JL's Komparse. The highest ranked American rider was Karl Cook in sixth place. Quotes : Patrice Delaveau - “Carinjo HDC had two stops yesterday in the triple combination so I was eliminated, and I could not understand why he did that. As I could not sleep last night (jetlag!), I had time to think about it and I realized that I asked him too much effort two weeks ago at a similar triple in Lausanne and that my horse needed to recover confidence and motivation. So I aimed at doing that in this class. I had to ‘help’ him with a little slap on the rump in the triple and everything was fine again. When I looked at the jump-off design, I liked it and I thought that it could be something for us…” Darragh Kenny - “The horse was absolutely excellent. He's only eight and that's his second 1.50m and he looks as if he's going to be a great horse for the future. But I would have liked to have won - I seem to be getting beat by Patrice a fair bit! The show is great for America to have - we don't have enough good shows like this. Other than Wellington, this is the only other five-star show of the whole year, so it's great to have it, great facilities and great fun".
