At the international show jumping competition in Leipzig the opening 1.45m speed class was claimed by Italy's Emanuel Gaudiano and the 10-year-old Belgian Warmbred Guess Ter Wilgen (by Bentley van de Heffinck). The mare was bred by Belgium's Wilfried Rooms and produced by his daughter Emma Rooms. Gaudiano set the clock at 50.27 seconds. The pair was about 1 second faster as Ireland's Lennon Dermott and the 14-year-old Vampire (by Andiamo). Germany's Mynou Diederichsmeier and the 10-year-old Stakkato-son Stalido finished third. A total of 62 combinations took the start, 15 finished clear. The top five was completed by Markus Renzel (Cato) and Lars Bak Andersen (Wicona 5) in a fourth and fifth position.
