Exciting Weekend Classes at the 95th Annual Flintridge Horse Show

The crisp Spring weather provided a beautiful backdrop Friday and Saturday at the Flintridge Riding Club for the Special Events hosted by the Flintridge La Cañada Guild, raising money and awareness for the Huntington Memorial Hospital at the 95th Annual Flintridge Horse Show! "It really has been an outstanding week of showing here at the 95th Annual Flintridge Horse Show," said Adrienne Karazissis of West Palms Events. "Between the great competition and the wonderful charity work the Flintridge La Cañada Guild puts together this week, it's truly a fun show and everyone has enjoyed themselves!" Friday night provided hours of entertainment with a silent auction, live music and the 15th Annual Wine Tasting, sponsored by Allen Lund. Everyone enjoyed the festivities and were treated to a wonderful evening of competition, which kicked off with the Far West Farms USHJA National Hunter Derby. The Far West Farms USHJA National Hunter Derby was a beautiful course created by Skip Bailey. It traveled around the Jimmy Williams Ring, taking the riders and their mounts through a series of tests, including 4 high options in both round one and round two. In the end, Mike Herbet and Breanna Bunevacz's Surf's Up were victorious in the class, with Cassandra Karazissis and Splendid in second and Kaitlyn Lovingfoss riding Zanzibar rounding out the top three! The Grand Prix of Flintridge Presented by Land Rover of Pasadena was a great competition with riders and their horses navigating Bailey's course which included a combination on the rail near the boisterous crowd and a tough oxer off a bending line. Round one allowed four pairs of the starting 22 into the jump-off for an exciting finish to an incredibly special class. Round one saw seven combinations have a rail at fence 2, a vertical after a rollback to an oxer and six riders and their mounts had a rail at number 6, a large oxer on a bending line. In the jump-off, we saw experienced Mark Watring and Balyon go first and clear in the jump-off with a time of 41.64. Molly Talla and Complete luck marched in second to go, clear with a smoking fast time of 38.30 to move right into first place! Third in the jump-off was Jodie Camberg and Veneto DH Z, unfortunately ending with faults and moving into third place. Last to go was Laura Ware and Ursina du Perchet and Ware is one of the recipients of the Michael Nyuis Scholarship for the 2016 show season! Ware and Ursina du Perchet put in a clean round, with a slightly slower time of 40.52 to move into second place.
