Fredricson wins second finale World Cup and climbs up to second place

In Gothenburg the second finale of the World Cup has just been ridden. The starting order was reversed to the provisional standing, meaning Steve  Guerdat was the last rider to enter the ring. The 32 combinations could to jump a really difficult course. Riders made mistakes on several fences and the Swedish public had to wait a long time for a clear round. The first zero on the score board came from Max Kühner. The Austrian rider cleared the course with Chardonnay 79 (f. _________________________________________________________________________________________ Ludger Beerbaum, Olivier Robert, Skrzycyzynski, Peder Fredricson, Eduardo Alvarez Aznar, Niels Bruynseels and Beezie Madden managed to clear the course as well. Ook Ludger Beerbaum, Olivier Robert, Jaroslaw Skrzycyzynski, Peder Fredricson, Eduardo Alvarez Aznar en Beezie Madden slaagde erin om het parcours zonder fouten af te werken. The top five of yesterday however, didn't keep the zero on the score board, meaning all shots were open again in this big finale. In the end a jump-off with eight combinations had to decide about the winner. Kühner was the first rider to enter the arena for the jump-off. He immediately put some pressure on his competition by riding a clear round in 39,44 seconds. Ludger Beerbaum and Cool Feeling (f. Cornado NRW) started second but they couldn't clear the course. They rode a very fast round indeed but a penalty on the first fence meant he wasn't in it to win it today. The French rider Olivier Robert (Tempo de Paban) was well on his way to beat Kühners time, but he got one penalty on the last fence, resulting in a seventh place. The Polish rider did keep the zero on the score board and finished in 39,44 seconds. The Swedisch rider Peder Fredricson gave the Swedish public what they came for: he rode almost two seconds faster than Kühner, taking over the lead. Beezie Madden, last years winner, rode a very fast round with Breitling LS (f. Quintero) but she got one penalty for jumping on the last fence as well. The only rider who was still able to beat Fredricson at that moment was Eduardo Alvarez Aznar. With Rokfeller de Pleville Margot (f. L'Arc de Triomphe), he went fast as lightening but in the end his time of 37,97 seconds wasn't enough to beat Fredricson. He did take over the first place from Steve Guerdat in the provisional ranking. Fredricson is now on two and Steve Guerdat on three. Click here for the provisional standings
