Press Release : 10 riders went through to the jump off in today’s Small GP today at the Sunshine Tour. This FEI Longines Ranking class had prizes of 24,600 euros. Julien Epaillard rode a brilliant round with Cristallo to win the class in a very fast time of 34.34 sec beating his compatriot, Penelope Leprevost who is Ranked 4th on the FEI Longines standings, into 2nd place on her mare Hija Van Strokapelle in a time of 37.37 sec. Sharing the podium was the Irish rider Trevor Breen with Oldtown with a time of 40.05 sec. Over this weekend total prize money at the Tour will be 150,000 euros, with a total of 4 ranking classes in all. The last class to be held this weekend will be the Big GP, sponsored by La Lorenzana, which will start at 14.30 tomorrow in the main David Broome arena. The top 60 combinations of the week will contest this class, which should give us some very exciting jumping to watch! There are also ten other classes being held throughout the day with competitions from both the Classic and the Big Tour keeping the riders busy. The rest of the results today have a marked British flavour. In the Big Tour B, 1.40 m class Harriet Nuttall riding Silver Lift was 1st, with Jake Saywell and Havina Van de Roshoe taking 2nd and Tim Page with Steady the Helm in 3rd. Jake Saywell riding Special K also won the 1.35 m (Big Tour A2) class, 2nd was the Belgian Jerome Guery on Capelotti By Martsyl and the Irish rider Jack Dodd riding Wild Thing took 3rd. In the last class Matthew Sampson riding Dolanda won, beating two other Brits, Harriet Nuttall in 2nd with Highland Cruiser II and Justin Tuff with Cumana Van Pottelbe. In the biggest Amateur class the 1.35 m Classic Tour D, the Irish rider Derek Mc Coppin with Whiterock Lucky was 1st in 63.21 sec. The British rider Jake Aston riding Celeste was 2nd in 64.61 sec and Susana Epaillard with the mare Qira D’Auge was 3rd in 65,75. Yet another British rider, Henry Turrell won the Classic Tour C with Barbados III, beating the Italian rider Pietro Borgia on Quelle Chance into 2nd and his fellow Brit Richard Barton with Donata into 3rd. The Classic Tour B was won by Noelia Bayarri with Tabasco for Spain, 2nd was Sergio Neuppmann with Chicca Blue and 3rd Lian Timmermans with Eidhoven. In the 1.10 m class the Norwegian rider Sunniva Sunde riding Diesel had the fastest round beating Shiekh Samir Mirdad with Mirdads Baaab Al Ray into 2nd place and also into 3rd place with Mirdads Nayyyarat Al.
