Silver Olympic-medal winner, Gerco Schröder, and his Belgian warmbred Eurocommerce London (s. Nabab de Rêve) have won the CSI5* Grand Prix at the Equestrian centre in Al Shaqab. The fences measured a height of 1m60, the first price was a cheque of over 200.000 euro, immediately enough to start a fight between the different starters.
Only six combinations were placed for the Jump-Off. The finish in a time of 40:37 seconds brought Schröder an advantage of almost 3 seconds on the number two, Denis Lynch and All Star 5 (s. Argentinus). Finishting in a time of 43:34 seconds the pair was followed by yet again a Belgian Warmbred, West Side vd Meerputhoeve. On the back the Swiss Clarissa Crotta made sure she ended on that precious stage, finishing in a time of 39:37 seconds but with one jumping fault. Ludger Beerbaum (Chiara 222, s. Contender) and Shk. Ali Bin Khalid Al Thani (Cantaro 32, s. Corrado) completed the top five.
