Germany without Rolex Grand Slam winner, Weishaupt at the start in Barcelona

Last year Germany won the FEI Nations Cup Finals in Barcelona, this year the team will make its start without one of their topriders, Philipp Weishaupt. Chef d'Equipe, Otto Becker, has appointed Denis Nielsen to replace Weishaupt at the start this Thursday in Barcelona. Weishaupt earlier this month impressed with a clean victory in the Rolex Grand Slam of Spruce Meadows.   This brings the average age of the GErman team a bit down. Marcus Ehning will be joined by Laura Klaphake (23), Simone Blum (28), Andreas Kreuzer (27) and Denis Nielsen (28).

Weishaupt had to retreat after the owners of his tophorse, L.B. Convall (by Colman) had decided their stallion should not start in BArcelona. Denis Nielsen will replace Weishaupt with his first horse, Cashmoaker (by Calido I).
