Irish domination as the five-star classes kick off in Falsterbo

It was double Irish on top in Thursday's CSIO5* 1.50m Mountain Horse Prize in Falsterbo. Mark McAuley with Jasco v. Bisschop (Dulf van den Bisschop x Krunch de Breve) won, and Paul O’Shea with Skara Glen’s Presence (Contendro x Nekton) finished second. The class, which also counted as a qualifier for the Longines Falsterbo Grand Prix, had 47 starters and 12 of them went clear. With a time of 72.94 seconds, McAuley was more than 1.5 second faster than O’Shea, who in his turn was more than two seconds faster than third placed Jur Vrieling (NED) with Davall (Zavall Vdl x Indorado). Fourth place went to Steve Guerdat (SUI) with Epicor da Gandarinha (Lupicor x Quincajou III) and fifth place to Geir Gulliksen (NOR) with Edesa S Banjan (Toulon x Lys de Darmen). Earlier in the day, another Irish rider – Billy Twomey – won the 1.45m class riding Ardcolum Duke (Gypsy Duke x Clover Hill). He was followed by Hamad Ali Al Kirbi (UAE) with Uxmal d’Ysieux (Crown Z x Balougran Z), Malin Baryard-Johnsson (SWE) with H&M Second Chance (Carland x White Clover), Kevin Jochems (NED) with Evita (Canturano x Farmer) and Stephanie Holmen (SWE) with Clarence (Clinton x Lancer III).
