Irish riders feature in share of top prize in Dublin Horse Show Puissance while Kenny and Coyle back in winners circle

The Land Rover Puissance at the Dublin Horse Show has resulted in a four-way tie for first place, with three Irish riders and one from Brazil sharing the top prize of €28.400. Padraic Judge (Citi Business), Richard Howley (CMS Tallulah), Michael Pender (Hearton Du Bois Halleux) and Brazil’s Pedro Junqueira Muylaert (Chacote), all cleared the big red wall in the fourth round when it stood at 2m20 (7ft 2). The quartet all tried to jump the wall again in the fifth round at 2m25 but each competitor finished with 4 faults, while Capt Geoff Curran and Dollanstown finished in fifth overall. Irish riders relentless run of victories saw them win both of Saturday afternoon’s international competitions. Offaly’s Darragh Kenny scored his second win of the week when taking the top prize of just over €8,000 in the 1m50 Dublin Stakes. Eight combinations made it into the jump-off, with Kenny partnering the Ann Thompson-owned Cassini Z to the fastest clear round in 43.38 seconds. Britain’s Amanda Derbyshire finished as runner-up with Cornwall BH (43.61), while Adrienne Sternlicht (USA) took third place with Toulago (43.67). The first class of the day saw Derry’s Daniel Coyle also score his second win of the 2018 Stena Line Dublin Horse Show when he led an Irish 1-2-3 in Royal Dublin Society Stakes By Mount Juliet. Coyle and the Ariel Grange-owned Farona stopped the clock in 55.63 to finish a second ahead of Shane Sweetnam and Cyklon while Clem McMahon also took third place for Ireland with Pacifico (ISH) in 59.46. The Longines Grand Prix of Ireland will bring the Stena Line Dublin Horse Show to a close on Sunday.
