After the warming up classes of yesterday, it was up to the 3* riders to enter the arena of Vilamoura today. The first class was a 1.35m class ridden against the clock. 74 combinations entered the ring. Of those 74 riders, Bernando Naveillan was the fastest rider. He rode Tenor d'Elle (Quick Star SF) to the finish line in 57,66 seconds and he didn't touch a fence. Katherina A. Dinan finished clear as well but she was almost two seconds slower than Nevaillan. With a time of 59,22 seconds Dinan and het mare Ulpi N de Brekka (Diamant de Semily) had to settle for second place. The Spanish rider Pascal Levy completed the podium. He clear the course in 59,22 seconds with Capri (l'Esprit). Philipp Spivey (Virginia 188) and Celine Schoonbroodt- De Azevedo (Bergkamp) completed the podium. The second CSI3* class that was scheduled for today was a 1.45 m class. This was also a qualifier for the GP on Sunday. The riders had to speed up because they we're riding against the clock. 67 combinations entered the ring and 19 of them managed to keep the zero on the score board. Eventually it was the fast Italian rider Luca Maria Moneta who won the class with Neptune Brecout (Cumano). The gelding crossed the finish line in 58,25 seconds. Second and third place were for The Netherlands. Jelmer Hoekstra rode his Quinoa des Riollets (Calvaro) to the finishline in 59,12 seconds, only a little bit faster than Sanne Thijssen who finished on third place. She and her mare Ulena reached the finish after 59,44 seconds. Darragh Kenny and Chanel rode a clear round as well. Their time; 59,45 seconds assured them of a fourth place.
