Belgium showjumper Jan Motmans won the Longines Spring Classic of Flanders, which was held in memorial of Nick Motmans. Sixteen combinations took the challenge of trying to complete this derby course. In the end three combinations finished on four faults and a result they took part in a jump-off to determine the winner. Motmans was the first to contest the thrilling jump-off on the 8 year old stallion Dublin van Overis (Darco x Kashmir V Schuttershof). He was the quickest clear round with 47.64 seconds, just ahead of second placed Dutch rider Johnny Pals and the 12 year old gelding Urjul van Generhese (Bon Ami x Micky van de Casterhoeve). Pals had the only other clear round but his time of 48.37 seconds was just not enough to take the win. Third place went to Belgian rider Jeroen Appelen and Filesto van de Herkant (Oklund x Darco).
