Jumping Mechelen is a little different this year. The B-arena is located more in the center of the Nekkerhal, surrounded by some of the finest shops/brands . The international U25-riders were the first to jump in the international program. In the CSIU25 the level was high, but striking was the young show jumper Jordy Oostvogels. On the back of Elaba de Laubry, he jumped to a third place.
Did you experience the B-arena different with the new ' set-up '?
The B-track is always a challenge. Jumping Mechelen in General is always a challenge (laughs). This year you have twice the public that can stand around the ring, in stead of one side. I can imagine that for some horses this causes a little more stress. I'm happy Elaba wasn't impressed.A third place, with a ' veteran ' under the saddle. Pleased with this start?
Of course! I'm very pleased that I get the chance to drive this beautiful Mare (by Damien H). She knows her job and that is an added value. Last week we went training in Azelhof. I tried to ride her in the same way, but she seemed very excited. In the end, it's that good attitude that we need.Still a busy schedule this week in Mechelen?
Later today I will ride another class in the CSIU25. I have two horses to ride this week. Hopefully I can finish with Evitta with the same results. The mare is something more nervous as Elaba, we'll see.You are now driving a while for the Haras de Laubry. What is your experience until now?
The cooperation with the Haras de Laubry is a fruitful cooperation. Both Damien as Michel H give me the necessary trust. I try not to harm that. I am very pleased with the opportunities I get and look forward to the results this week. What does Jumping Mechelen mean to you?
The heyday of the Flemish jumping, without more. Jumping Mechelen is an event that never disappoints. Are you not selected as a rider then you can just share the same passion to be there as a spectator. You always learn something there, with your eyes or on the horse, doesn't matter.Jumping Mechelen is a little different this year.
