Kevin Jochems of The Netherlands and the ten-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Captain Cooper (Namelus R x Corland) topped the leaderboard in the €25,000 Grand Prix at the Vilamoura Champions Tour CSI3*. The 1.50m competition took place on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the Vilamoura Equestrian Center in Portugal. Fifty two horse and rider combinations took to the 13-obstacle-course designed by Italy’s Elio Travagliati. Six qualified to ride in the jump-off, with Jochems setting an unbeatable time of 36.45s to win the class. Ireland’s Darragh Kenny and the nine-year-old Hanoverian gelding C’Est Beau crossed the timers in 36.52s to finish in 2nd. In 3rd place, Great Britain’s Emma Stoker and the 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding Townhead Campus finished on a time of 37.68s.
