After the LGCT Grand Prix yesterday, the Copa del Rey, Prize of El Corte Ingles, was ridden this afternoon. It was a 1,55m class ridden in two rounds. Seven combination managed to stay of the wood in both the rounds. The time of the second round decided also about who would be crowned as the winner. The British rider Michael Whitaker once again showed his top class and experience. He rode Viking (Jacomar) to the finish line in 36,95 seconds. With this time, he was just half of a second faster than Christian Ahlmann. Ahlmann had Caribis Z (Caritano) under the saddle and finished in 37,45 seconds. Sweden completed the podium. Henrik von Eckerman and Sansibar 89 finished in 37,50 seconds, good for a third place. Fourth place was for Frances leading lady rider Penelope Leprevost. She and her mare Ratine d'la Rousserie (Quaprice Boimargot Quincy) didn't touch a fence and finished in 38,34 seconds. Fifth place was for Andreas Kreuzer and Calvilot (Calvaro Z) they cleared the course in 38,89 seconds. Sixth place was for Federico Fernandez (Guru). Marco Kutscher and Quadros came in seventh.
