On the road to Vegas.... Connery

As we near closer to the FEI World Cup Finals in Las Vegas we a take a closer look at Luca Maria Moneta's horse Connery.

  • Name : Connery
  • Rider : Luca Maria Moneta (ITA)
  • Age : 14
  • Breeding : Cordobes II x Polydor
  • Owner : Molly Ohrstrom
  • Percentage of clears this Winter: 53 %
  • Major Achievement : Third place in the Leipzig World Cup 2014
Latest Results : The 14 year old gelding Connery began his career with Italian rider Luca Moneta in 2011. Soon enough Connery started to produce some fantastic results. He was not always the easiest horse but Moneta's use of the natural horsemanship method allowed him to get a good tune out of Connery. At the start of the indoor season last year, Connery had a promising start in Oslo and Helsinki. With clears in the first round it looked as though Connery and Moneta were set to have a good season ahead. After a small detour to Doha and Poznan, where they achieved some great results, the pair headed to London and Leipzig. Against some of the best in the world, the little gelding showed his worth and went double clear on both occasions. There was a small dip in form after Leipzig however,  as Connery had 8 faults in Zurich. In Bordeaux the little machine bounced back to great form and went clear in the first round in the World Cup. With just one fence down in the jump-off they finished in tenth place.  Their final preparation for Las Vegas took place in Gothenburg, where they finished tenth in the W.C two days after winning the 1.50m class. Statistics : Between October 2014 and March 2015, Connery jumped clear in seven out of thirteen 1.60m courses. We wish this fantastic pair the best of luck in Las Vegas.
