In the ultimate final only the 12 best combinations took the start, with among them three belgian combinations. Harrie Smolders kept it clear in the last rounds with his 13-year-old Zangersheide-sire, Don VHP Z (by Diamant de Semilly). Smolders kept the total to 5.52 seconds. Peder Fredricson was the last rider to go in with his 11-year-old Belgian bred, sBs-gelding, H&M All In (by Kashmir van Schuttershof). The pair didn't make a mistake until the final round. With a total of five points they made it a close call claiming the GOLD medal. Harrie Smolders secured Silver while Cian O'connor and his 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood stallion, Good Luck (by Canturo) claimed the bronze medal with only one fault in the last round resulting in a total of 6.25 points.
