Pius Schwizer beats Belgians to the win in Lummen

It was Pius Schwizer  who just showed the Belgians how its done in Lummen. During the Longines Spring Classic of Flanders the rider from Switserland just won the 1.50m speed class over Olivier Philippaert and Jerome Guery by a mile. Aboard his Leonard de la Ferme CH (v. Landjuweel the Swiss rider rode the course like clockwork. Taking the shortest route and keeping up the pace he put in a clear round in 68.05 seconds. That was nearly two seconds faster as home rider Philippaerts who had saddled his 9-year-old BWP stallion Ikker (by Ogano Sitte). The duo did ride a fast round of 69.88 seconds, but was no match for Schwizer and finished in second place. Guery followed in third place with the Zangersheide stallion Papillon Z (by Perhaps).  The pair stopped the clock at  70.17 seconds, but had to watch out for Paolo Paini. The Italian came close to the Belgian rider. With his Dutch bred mare Clodia CSG  he finished a few tenth of a seconds later and claimed fourth place. Spanish rider Pilar Lucrecia Cordon finished in fifth place after clearing the course in 70.66 seconds with his BWP mare Gribouille du Lys (by Quaprice Bois Margot).
