After a thorough check-up, veterinaries found a small inflammation with Quartz Rouge, one of Jerome Hurels horses. The horse has to rest for ten days now before returning in the ring. Deborah Smaga, the owner of the horse, says following: "Maybe this is the reason Quartz didn't jump so well in La Baule". The combination didn't perform at his best last Sunday in the GP of La Baule. They got the exceptional score of 17 faults. "It isn't very serious, but Quartz will be taken out of the sport for ten days now, we hope he can jump competitions as soon as possible again", adds the owner of the stallion. This little injury can be a cause of the disappointing performance of the combination in La Baule, but it probably isn't the only one. At first, the combination would ride at CSIO5* in Lummen, but that one got cancelled because of the bad weather conditions. Because of that, they started in CSI3* Mauberge, where they were able to get a 11th place in the GP. Tis means the horse of Jerome Hurel started the competition in Baule before jumping at least one 5-star show. The last CSI5* they rode, was in Geneva, in december 2015. This could also be a reason for Quartz Rouge not performing well in La Baule. Normally, Jerome is going to ride Quartz at the Global Champions Tour in Chantilly, which starts in the 26th of May. He also hopes to jump the Nations Cup of St. Gall. Because of Quartzes injury, the chef d'équipe of the French team, had to change his selection for the next CSIOs. Jerome and Quartz, who are usually jumping very good classes, are very important members of the French team in the Nations Cup.
