Aboard his KWPN mare Doulita (by Wittinger VDL) he was faster than French rider Julien Gonin and home rider Francisco Rocha. It was a close call for Willis who stayed ahead of Gonin and his KWPN gelding Well Done (by VDL sheraton) with a small margin of just 0.38 seconds. Nonetheless it was good enough for the number one spot. In third place it was Rocha who followed the pair with his Zangersheide mare C Berriz Z (by Coltaire Z). The duo crossed the finish line in 61.43 seconds during the test that was ridden against the clock.
