Spain victorious in Lisbon

This evening, the highlight of the CSI3* show in Lisbon was the Nations Cup. Eight teams started but eventually Spain crowned itself as the winner. With a team total of 4 points, they were by far the best team. There were two riders in the Spanish team who managed to ride a double clear round. Paola Amilibia and Notre Start de la Nutria (Quick Star) and Eduardo Alvarez Aznar and Fidux (Malito de Reves) managed to keep the wood untouched. Manuel Vernandez Saro and U Watch (President) got one unlucky fence down in both the first and the second round.  Sergio Alvarez Moya rode a clear first round, but unfortunately his gelding Arrayan touched two fences in the second round.   Second place was for the host of this Nations Cup, Portugal. The team got a total of 13 points. Antonio Matos Almeida rode a clear first round, but in the second round luck wasn't on his side: Nikel de Presle (Kannen) didn't feel like jumping and the combination got eliminated. The second Portuguese combination who entered the ring was Seabra Duarte and Fernhill Curra Quin (Harlequin Du Carel). In the first round they got one jumping fault and one time penalty. In the second round Fernhill didn't manage to keep off the wood which resulted in 4 points. Mario Wilson Fernandes and Saltho de la Roque (Querlybet Hero) were the only Portuguese combination that was able to jump a double clear.  Luis Sabino Goncalves and Filou Imperio Efipcio got 8 points in the first round and 4 in the second. Third place was for Great-Britain. Great-Britain already won the Nations Cup of Rome earlier this evening, but in Lisbon they had to settle for third place. This with a team total of 13 points. The only man of the company, Tim Wilks rode a double clear with Qualbora Merze (Tarzan de Beaulieu). Anna Edwards and Blazer B (Tombola) had one jumping fault in the first round. In the second round they had one unfortunate penalty for time. Laura Robinson and Jonti (Lando) got 4 points in the first round and 8 in the second. Louise Saywell, the fourth rider of the British team jumped a clear first round with Dassler (Douglas). The second round didn't went so well though: the combination left the ring with 17 penalties.
