Twomey reigns in Zürich's Speed Class

In the Swiss Zürich, a 1,40m class against the clock has just been ridden. In this 'LGT Private Banking Challenge', 24 combinations entered the show ring, but eventually it was the Irish rider Billy Twomey who crowned himself the clear winner. Twomey's weekend has been very good so far; yesterday he already won a class. Today he saddled his 13-year old stallion Ardcolum Duke (f. Gypsy Duke) to jump a clear round in 52,38 seconds. With this time he was clearly faster than Maikel Van der Vleuten who ended on second place with VDL Groep Quatro (f. Quaprice Boimargot Quincy). Van der Vleuten and his 11-year old gelding kept the wood untouched and finished in 54,77 seconds. The young Swiss rider Joel Kurmann did exactly the same with Tarzan de Thurin (f. Jazz Band Courcelle) and shared the second place with Van der Vleuten. The fourth place went to Romain Duguet. With the 15-year old stallion Otello du Soleil (f. Alligator Fontaine) under the saddle, he finished in 55,31 seconds. Bryan Balsiger and Ornett de Galestre (f. Feofar de Rhodes) completed the top five. Click here for the results
