Today the Longines Masters series kicked-off at its first stop in Long Beach, nearby LA, California. Nearby the beach, with a bright sun - although indoors - the LA Masters started the day with the 1.35m international CSI2* class. In this speed class the USA riders dominated the class. Hilary Mc Nerney and her 14-year-old KWPN-horse Vitesse (by Krunch de Breve ) topped the class after a clear finish in 29.20 seconds. KWPN delivered the runner-up horse as well. The 13-year-old Clinton-son, Bert followed in a second place with Kristin Hardin. The pair crossed the finish almost one second slower. Francie Steinwedell - Carvin and the 8-year-old Oklund-daughter Ohlala Z completed the stage and was followed by a French representative. Together with Revann de Lojou Eric Navet's family, Estelle Navet placed fourth. Just before the five-star class started, the 1.45m international class was set for an exciting example of top sport. Sweden's Hanna Mauritzson and the 11-year-old Irish Sport horse Parkmore Lux (by. Lux Z) took home the win. Karianne Boyce-Lockhart followed as a runner-up aboard Hopscotch (by. Heartreaker). Only these two combinations managed to finish clear within the time set. Shota Soejima finished out of the time allowed with one time penalty. Shota tacked up SIG Silver Surfer (by Cornet Obolensky) finishing clear in 81.44 seconds. It was however Tina Yates (Juanita) who set the record time of 68.86 seconds. Unfortunately the pair knocked down one rail under the way. Canada's Vanessa Mannix and the 10-year-old Rubens Ls la Silla (by Rebozo Ls la Silla) completed the top five.
