van der Schans victorious in Grand Prix Roeser

In Luxembourg, the only show of the year has reached an ending. And what for an ending! After a weekend of beautiful sport, it was up to the 3-star riders to ride their Grand Prix. With fences built up to 1.50m this class promised to be the highlight of the weekend. And spectacular it was... After round one, only the best 15 combinations could start in the second round. Of those 15 combinations, at was Wout-Jan van der Schans who took the gold medal. He and Aquila SFN (Ovidius) jumped two clear rounds. This combination went fast like lightening through the second round, they cleared the course in 44,47 seconds. With this time, van der Schans was almost 5 seconds faster than the Brazilian rider Adir Abreu Junior and Cula Lou V (Chacco-Blue). They jumped two clear rounds as well, but their time of 49,21 seconds wasn't enough to take the win. Only the top two managed to jump two clear rounds. Third place was for Canada. The Canadian lady rider Karina Aziz and her stallion Czardas 30 (Contendro I) didn't touch a fence either, but in the second round they got one penalty for the time. Turkey and The Netherlands completed the top 5. Derin Demirsov and Harry K (Equest Carnute) got 4 faults in the first round, but jumped an excellent second round. Harry K stayed of the wood and assured his rider the fourth spot. The young Dutch rider Lisa Nooren and VDL Groep Sabech d'Ha took account of the fifth place. Nooren jumped a clear first round, but an unlucky fence in the second round kept he from winning. Click here for the results
