Dutch Show Jumper Jur Vrieling has decided to retire his 14 year old stallion VDL Bubalu (Baloubet de Rouet x Nimmerdor). He is still hoping to compete him in the LGCT final in Doha next month before retiring him at the CSI in Amsterdam. "Bubalu is in great shape. That's why it's sad to retire him from international competition now. But on the other hand he will make his farewell during what I dare say the highlight of his career, a gold medal in Caen and two great rounds now (NC Final), has there not been better? Also, the pain of the loss is mitigated by the fact that I have Zirocco Blue and VDL Zavall, two fantastic horses for the future and they can allow me to continue competing at the highest level of this sport. " Jur and Bubalu have no doubt had an amazing career together, winning team silver at the 2012 Olympics and recently his team Golds at both the WEG and the FEI Nations Cup Finals. Bubalu will dedicate his retirement to breeding.
