Victory for Henrik von Eckermann in controversial jump-off at CHIO Aachen

The main show at the CHIO Aachen today was the 1m60 Turkish Airline Prize. It turned out to be quit the event with a fall in the jump-off for both Yuri Mansur and Laura Kraut. Mansur's Vikiti (by Valentino) was carried away by a horse ambulance for further examination. Meanwhile Kraut's Confy (by Contact Me) simply decided not to jump at the very last second and turned away, leaving his rider to inspect the ground. The first clear round came from America's McLain Ward and his HH Azur (by Thunder vd Zuuthoeve) with whom he finished in a fast time of 47.56 seconds. The organisation must've thought that this would be the result of the day and already started the progress with the American flag. However Swedish rider Henrik von Eckermann decided he could do better with his Castello 194 (by Cristallo 7) and finished with 47.30 seconds on the clock putting them in first place. Turkish Airlines presented him with a cheque of 1.000.000 Turkish Airlines Miles. Germany's Marcus Ehning, who entered and left the arena with a big applause, finished in third place aboard his Funky Fred (by For Pleasure) in 48.72 seconds. Completing the top five in fourth place we found Ireland's Darragh Kenny with Westbrook (by Jaguar Mail), followed by a fifth place for Luciana Diniz with Fit For Fun 13 (by For Pleasure). Both finished with 4 penalties.   Find all results here
