Von Eckermann tops the rankings in World Cup Gothenburg

In Sweden it was finally time for the highlight of this weekend: the last manche of the World Cup before the big finale. 33 combinations entered the show ring and for a while it seemed like it was going to be a very busy jump-off: after six combinations, five rode a clear round already. Eventually that didn't happen: 12 combinations jumped a clear round and came back for the jump-off. In that jump-off everyone was looking for the last points they needed to assure themselves of a ticket for the finale. Henrik von Eckermann was one of the last riders to enter the ring. At that moment, Maikel van der Vleuten was leading the ranking with VDL Groep Verdi TN N.O.P. (f. Quidam de Revel) with a time of 36,83 seconds. Von Eckermann clearly wanted to win in front of hos home crowd and took a lot of risks. With Mary Lou 194 (f. Montendro) under the saddle, he eventually finished in 36,76 seconds, enough for victory. Maikel van der Vleuten ended on second place. The third place on the podium was for Leopold van Asten who jumped a clear round with VDL Groep Zidane N.O.P. (f. Heartbreaker). They crossed the finish line in 38,06 seconds. Olivier Robert and Quenelle du Py (f. Tresor du Remon) took account of the fourth place. Roberth Smith and Bavi (f. Balou du Rouet) ended on fifth place. Click here for all results
