After his victory at the Central Park Horse Show in New York, Ward McLain moved up the stram of the Erie Cannal to New Albany. On Sunday the USA show jumping rider, speeded to victory in the Grand Prix aboard his 9-year-old Selle Français-mare, Tina la Boheme (by Calvaro Z). The pair finished faultless in a time of 38.591 seconds. A total of 9 combinations returned for the jump-off, only five managed to produce a clear round. McLain was almost two seconds faster as runner-up, Beezie Madden and teh 10-year-old Quintaro ASK-sire, Breitling LS. The two crossed the finish in 40.022 seconds and were followed by Ireland's Shane Sweetnam and the Zangersheide-horse Chaqui Z (by Chacco Blue). Leslie Howard and her BWP-horste Gentille van Spieveld (by Heartbreaker) palced fourth. Andrew Bourns completed the top five with CHS Inception. In total 26 combinations took the start in this Grand Prix.
