It was William Whitaker who conquers the Sunndays Gold Tour Grand Prix at Toscane, Italy. The class was both a qualifier for the WEG (World Equestrian Games) 2014 and the 2013 FEI European Championships. The 49 participants had to ride two rounds set at 1m60, making a chance to win a piece of the 25150 euros prize money-pie.
It was the Italian Massimiliano Ferrario and Loro Piana Acamar who placed third with two clear rounds finishing in 52:09 seconds. Oleg Krasyuk riding S I E C Ledgepoint placed second with a final time of 51:27 seconds. However it was the british show-jumper William Whitaker and Fandango who claimed the lead after a finish in 49:21 seconds. The top five was completed by the Belgian rider Hendrik Denutte and the 9-year-old gelding Espadon van de Kranenburg (s. Kimball) in a fourth position, followed by the Ukraine rider Ferenc Szentirmai and Corcant. The pair had one time penalty after a finish in 55:97 seconds.
