On Saturday, August 19, 2017, Belgium’s Wilm Vermeir and the 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding Gentiane de la Pomme (Shindler de Muze x Diamant de Semilly) won the CSI5* Piz Bernina Prize at The Longines St. Moritz competition in St.Moritz, Switzerland. For the 1.55 class, Switzerland’s Balsiger Guido designed the 13-obstalce-course that saw 38 horse and rider combinations. 18 would move to the shortened jump-off track, though Vermeir produced the fastest of the clear rounds for a winning time of 35.71s. In 2nd place, USA’s Laura Kraut and the 10-year-old Zangersheid stallion Viper Vrombautshoeve Z (Verdi x Unknown) finished on zero faults with a time of 36.74s.
