At the time, the World Championships were still organized under the banner of the World Equestrian Games (World Equestrian Games). They featured endurance and reining, but lacked para-dressage, bringing the total to five shared disciplines. Two decades later, the field of competitors has logically been thoroughly reshuffled… although a handful of indestructible veterans are bravely holding their ground.
