The highlight of the weekend at the CSI4* in Ascona came with the Gran Premio, presented by Bancastato and held in memory of Manuela Bacchi. The 1.55m Grand Prix featured a challenging course and a tense jump-off, where only three riders rode a clear round.
Barbara Schnieper (SUI) delivered a masterful performance with Licolle, a 9-year-old KWPN mare by Genius out of Eldorado van de Zeshoek. With a clear round in the jump-off and a lightning-fast 42.86 seconds, Schnieper secured the win on home soil.
Just fractions behind, João Victor Castro Aguiar Gomes De Lima (BRA) rode Cashpaid J&F to second place. The 14-year-old Holsteiner stallion by Casall stopped the clock at 42.98 seconds. Their consistency and power underlined why this pair has been a fixture on the international circuit.
Third place went to Nicolas Sers (FRA) with the talented Espoir de la Chesnee (President). With 44.63 seconds, produced another double clear and highlighted the depth of French breeding and training.
In fourth, Elia Simonetti (ITA) and Li la Bo (Uriko), delivered a strong jump-off despite collecting 4 faults in 48.94 seconds. The Italian rider demonstrated boldness and speed, keeping the pressure high until the final fence.
Rounding out the top five were Niklaus Rutschi (SUI) and Kingstone B (Warrant).
