Cannes Stars go for female power as team is revealed.... "It Will be a fantastic year!"

Last year the Cannes Stars powered by Iron Dames took GCL by storm, making history as the first all-female team to clinch the championship title. Now, they’re back, bolder and hungrier than ever, ready to defend their crown and once again illuminate the equestrian world.

The Cannes Stars live by one mantra: "Women Driven by Dreams." And in 2025, those dreams are bigger than ever. With their signature mix of talent, precision, and fearless ambition, this trailblazing squad is ready to prove that last season’s victory was just the beginning.

Team Owner and Manager Deborah Mayer spoke proudly: “Our journey is built on continuity and long-term vision. With a tightly bonded team, we achieved an incredible feat by winning the GCL in our very first participation. It’s a great pleasure and a challenge to be back for this second year with the same victorious team, and the addition of Anastasia Nielsen in our ranks. As a talented U25 rider, she brings fresh energy and ambition, further fueling our collective drive. We arrive highly motivated to thrive for excellence, driven by heart and passion. More than a team, we are a family, committed to the long term and ready to push our limits together.”

A crucial part of the winning squad last year Natalie Dean said: “I am very excited to be part of the Cannes Stars again this year. Last year was our debut season with the Iron Dames and I don’t think anybody expected us to win but that is just a testament to Deborah and the whole team supporting us. We really feel like a big family now and we’re ready to try to retain our title this season!”

With just one change to their winning squad for the fresh season Natalie Dean (USA), Katrin Eckermann (GER), Sophie Hinners (GER), Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann (GER) and Sanne Thijssen (NED) all return to the team to defend their title. Adding female firepower to their line-up the team have managed to secure U25 rider Anastasia Nielsen (MON) who will be making her GCL debut bringing fresh energy, ambition and raw talent.

Back for 2025 Sanne Thijssen explained: “I’m really excited to start a new season with the Iron Dames. We had some incredible results last year, and I’m proud of everything we achieved as a team. I’m looking forward to building on that momentum with the Cannes Stars Powered by Iron Dames and continuing to push ourselves to new heights this season. The energy within the team is amazing, and I’m eager to contribute to what I’m sure will be another fantastic year.”
